Press Release: Judy Ongg’s Triumphant Comeback to Hong Kong After 40 Years

TGG through it's subsidiaries Lit Artist, Lit by Larry, Verde Vines, Ocean Vines is proud to bring back to Hong Kong renown Taiwanese singer Judy Ongg (翁倩玉) to perform between 12th – 13th July at the Grand Theatre of the Xiqu Centre (西九文化區戲曲中心大劇院). After a 40 year absence she will be gracing her full audience of fans with her elegant and warm voice, she will perform her multilingual hit songs to a full audience of fans.

A legendary singer who has captivated audiences in China, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan for over 60 years, Judy Ongg starred in the film "The True and False Beauty"(真假千金), for which she won “Best Actress” at the 10th Golden Horse Awards. She is also known for popularizing classic songs such as "Prayer"(祈禱), "Dedication of Love"(愛的奉獻), and the theme song of the Japanese drama "The Story of Aixin"(阿信的故事), earning her the Superstar title of a “national treasure” (國寶).

She is one of very few Chinese singers to have appeared on Japan's NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen and won the top “Japan Record Awards”.

In the 1980s, Hong Kong's TVB aired the Cantonese version of Japanese drama "The Story of Aixin," (阿信的故事), Judy Ongg recorded the Cantonese theme song "Xin"(信). The theme song gained cult-like popularity, becoming a household inspirational anthem and Judy Ongg’s most defining work in Hong Kong, in addition to winning the “Hong Kong Platinum Record Sales Award”.
